Josey Wilson
Habitat Programs Coordinator
Josey grew up in Fruitland Idaho, were she gained an appreciation for the outdoors through hunting and fishing. Following her graduation from Fruitland High School in 2020, Josey embarked on her academic journey at Treasure Valley Community College. It was here that she discovered her passion for the Natural Resources Department under the mentorship of Marcus Nichols. In 2022, she earned her Associates Degree in Wildlife Science, paving the way to continue her education at the University of Idaho. While attending U of I, Josey studied Rangeland Management and Ecology, complemented by a minor in Fishery Resources. Upon the recent completion of her Bachelor’s Degree, Josey was determined to channel her education into making meaningful contributions in the natural resources field.
During her undergraduate experience, she undertook significant roles, including serving as a rangeland intern for the Vale BLM District of Eastern Oregon. Her responsibilities ranged from conducting PIT tagging on Columbia Spotted Frogs to evaluating the health of Riparian and Rangeland ecosystems. Additionally, Josey worked as a Biological Aide at Idaho Fish and Game for two seasons. Here, she actively participated in efforts to combat invasive species like Brooke Trout through electroshocking methods, alongside contributing to fisheries enhancement programs.
With a background in both effective communication and science, Josey has the skills to engage with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Her passion for the outdoors, education, and people has allowed her to thrive in collaborative settings. Outside of work, Josey enjoys spending time with family and friends, hunting, fishing, and hiking.
